Rebecca writes and makes stuff for kids (and kids at heart).
Rebecca is a freelance writer with a focus on art making with (and for) children, creative work, media literacy, and family travel. She's written for Teen Vogue, Dear Handmade Life, the Etsy Seller Handbook, And North, Craft Industry Alliance, and The Writers Market 2018 (forthcoming). For a peek at her writing clips, check out her portfolio of selected published articles here.
Rebecca also designs and makes simple toys, art projects, and decor to delight and inspire her children. In 2014, she founded Hudson + Daughter, an online storefront of her handmade designs. Her work has been featured in the Martha Stewart American Made Market, Country Living, Cool Mom Picks, and Dear Handmade Life. Rebecca's collection, Bespoke Bamboo for Hudson + Daughter, was named a Martha Stewart American Made Crafts Finalist.
She studied Art History and Anthropology as an undergrad at Boston University, earned a Master's degree in Library Science and Archival Administration at Simmons College, and has worked for over a decade in museums, libraries, and archives before transitioning into freelance work. Rebecca's got a thing for picture books, public libraries, and digging into the archives of female movers & shakers, writers, and artists. Her weekends are usually spent day-tripping in the Hudson Valley, where she lives with her husband, son, and daughter.
Each month, Rebecca sends an exclusive letter and an article or two to friends on her list, from thoughts on creative work and writing, to updates on projects that she's working on, and lots of recommendations for things she's reading and loving, lately. If you'd like, you can join right here.
