Like every other time I've visited, the cemetery was practically empty yesterday. So it really does feel like a reflective quiet space (but for the white noise of the traffic on Route 9 which runs along one side of the land). It's always an interesting exercise to check out the design elements (like fonts and layout) of the grave markings, and compare how the styles have changed according to the fashion of the times. Andrew Carnegie's stone, pictured above, seems to shout to me, 'I am permanent!'.
